There are an incredible range and variety of wedding blogs, from Style Me Pretty through to RockNRoll Bride (both American). Our personal favourite at the moment Alice in Weddingland. And, of course, Facebook has wedding groups in spades – some specific for a time of year. For example there’s December Bridesor the group Weddings, Brides, Dresses and more Original.
Everyone has questions about their big day.
Do I have an intimate breakfast party, followed by a more general disco themed party for all my friends? Or how about the venue – what should it be? A historic house with a marquee in the grounds such as Smedmore House or perhaps somewhere quiet and intimate. And how much to spend where? And don’t forget the entertainment!
What they (wedding blogs) all have in common, is ideas and suggestions to help you, the bride, to get the wedding you want, on the budget you have. Not an easy thing to do, especially now with the current economic situation
Creating your OWN wedding blog
However I came across this idea whilst searching around the web – creating a wedding blog specifically for your wedding. Though to be fair it could work for pretty much any event, I guess.
The idea is simple enough; you create a simple, easy to share web site which holds all the information you need to share with your guests. Invites (especially useful when you have guests overseas), suggestions about local hotels, wedding gift lists. The list is pretty much endless. Want to tell everyone a bit about yourselves and how you met – use the wedding blog option to write about it.. Got some photos you want to share after the event? The site will probably be able to do that.
There are a load of sites (a search for “create your own wedding website” will throw up masses – gettingmarried.co.uk and the knot (although obviously American). A personal favourite at the moment is The Wedding Shop.
It’s worth the time and effort to create your own wedding blog – who knows it might just be the start of a whole new career!
